Reaction Rates
Red A particles and blue B particles bounce around a box. When an A and a B slam together hard enough to clear the activation energy, they fuse into a purple product and vanish from the mix. Raise the temperature, add more particles, or stir the box with your pointer and watch the reactant curve fall.

What to try
- Crank the temperature up. Why do the reactants disappear so much faster when the particles move quicker?
- Slide the activation energy to the top. What happens to the reaction rate when almost no collision is hard enough to react?
- Double the concentration. Does packing in more particles change how often A actually meets B?
- Watch the rate readout as the run goes on — why does it slow down even though the temperature never changed?
- Set the activation energy to zero. Does every single collision now react, and how quickly does the box turn purple?
